FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 2, 2026 Statement from Charles E. Walder, Geauga County Auditor, Regarding ADP Employees’ Decision to Pursue Collective Bargaining
Chardon, Ohio – Geauga County Auditor Charles E. Walder issued the following statement in response to the recent announcement by employees of the Geauga County Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Department that they intend to pursue collective bargaining representation:
“I am saddened to learn that the dedicated professionals who make up ADP — individuals who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to keep Geauga County’s technology infrastructure, cybersecurity systems, and archives and records secure and fully operational — have felt compelled to seek the protections of collective bargaining in order to safeguard their stability and continuity of service.
These employees care deeply about their work and about the residents of Geauga County. They have consistently demonstrated professionalism, technical excellence, and an unwavering commitment to protecting taxpayer interests. Their decision does not reflect dissatisfaction with
their mission or their leadership, but rather a desire for stability and protection amid broader political uncertainty.
While I regret that circumstances have led them to this point, I fully respect their decision and support their right to take steps they believe are necessary to protect themselves and the essential public services they provide. I am hopeful that collective bargaining will offer them additional assurance and security as they continue their important work on behalf of county taxpayers.
ADP employees have played a critical role in strengthening our cybersecurity posture, modernizing systems, and ensuring reliable, uninterrupted service for county agencies, townships, municipalities, boards, and districts. Their efforts directly benefit every resident of Geauga County.
I remain grateful for their service, proud of their professionalism, and confident that they will continue to serve the people of Geauga County with distinction, integrity, and dedication.”
