Ohio State Auditor Presents Auditor Walder with Award

CHARDON, OHIO – November 18, 2021 – The Auditor of Ohio has awarded Geauga County Auditor Charles E. Walder with its Auditor of State Award for Geauga County’s successful fiscal year 2020 audit. This award recognizes conformance with the Auditor of Ohio’s standards for fiscal operation and reporting.

“Public officials and employees must be accountable for spending public money,” Auditor Walder said. “Quality financial reports are important part of transparency—you have a right to know how your tax dollars are spent.”

The Geauga County Auditor’s Fiscal Department handles preparing financial reports for Geauga County. In order to receive the Ohio Auditor of State Award, a government unit must timely prepare a clean audit report that adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”), and demonstrates no financial concerns, material weaknesses, or unlawful expenditures.

“Congrats to every one of our team members involved,” Auditor Walder said. “My Office will continue our hard work serving Geauga County through responsible fiscal management.”
