GIS INITIATIVE KICKOFF
Auditor Walder Improves Geauga County’s Geographic Information System

CHARDON, OHIO – June 2, 2021 – The Geauga County Auditor’s Office, in conjunction with Geo-Centric Consulting, have launched a new initiative to update Geauga County’s Geographic Information System (“GIS”). GIS supports many mapping workflows for Geauga County departments.

On May 28, 2021, Geauga County Auditor Charles Walder and Richard Kotapish of Geo-Centric Consulting presented this much-needed initiative to various Geauga County departments to discuss the GIS improvements.

“This update is long overdue,” said Auditor Walder. “It’s been over 20 years since there were any significant updates to our County’s GIS.”

The GIS Advisory Committee, comprised of County leadership, will be established to meet routinely to deal with goals and policies for GIS development.

“My office looks forward to improving the current system and appreciates other Geauga County departments’ assistance and support,” said Auditor Walder. “Geauga County is best served when we work together.”
